Alt Creative Wave

Curious about how we work?

Starting a website project can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be. At Alt Creative, we guide you through each step with clarity and care. Our proven process ensures your project runs smoothly from concept to launch and beyond.

Initial Consultation:

Before our initial consultation, we'll send you our Project Discovery Questionnaire which will help guide the conversation. We'll then chat about:

  • Your goals for the new site
  • Your existing site if applicable to learn about what is or isn't working
  • Your existing brand, style preferences, and desired site features
  • The budget and timeline parameters
  • What available content, images, and assets you currently have

Proposal & Agreement:

After our initial conversation, we'll prepare a proposal for you to review. You'll receive:

  • Formal proposal with scope, pricing, and timeline
  • Contract for electronic signature upon your approval of the proposal
  • Invoice for project deposit due upon acceptance/signing of the contract
  • Proposed days/times for the project kick-off call will be provided once the agreement and deposit completed
  • A checklist to prepare for our kick-off call

Kick-Off Call:

In our project kick-off call, we'll review your kick-off checklist and explore:

  • What your business does and what makes it unique
  • Your audience and competitors
  • Competitor websites and examples of sites you like
  • Define custom functionality needs and determine hosting compatibility and if 3rd party paid plugins or services are required
  • Review project goals and scope
  • Establish milestones and timeline
  • List required assets
  • Technologies for gathering content and feedback

Project Folder:

A Project Folder will be created for you in Google Drive where all of your documents will live including:

  • A copy of your answers from the Project Discovery Questionnaire
  • A recap of our Kick-off call
  • Your Content Toolkit
  • A Password file for important passwords
  • Project Milestones Spreadsheet
  • A brainstorming document for you to use to keep track of your own thoughts/notes for the project

Collecting your site assets:

Before we can begin design, we'll need to start by collecting (or creating) your brand assets and determine what content/copy will go onto the new site. This includes:

  • Logos, style guides, images, videos
  • Written page copy, page sections, calls-to-action, etc.
  • Content for forms, quizzes, or interactive elements

You will receive access to our Content Toolkit in your project folder. If you've opted for our Content Planning Sessions add-on, we'll be helping you create some of this content and these files will also be added to your Project Folder.

During this phase, we prepare and plan for how the site will be organized and document the initial styles to be used. All of this will be further refined during the design-in-development phase.

Deliverables:

  • Wireframes for page layout
  • Navigational sitemap
  • Mini website styleguide
  • 2 Figma mockups: One for the Homepage and one for a high-level "interior" page.

These deliverable will define site structure and visual direction. From there, we move directly into a working prototype using WordPress. The rest of the site is designed in the development phase in order to prioritize quick revisions.

Design-in-development integrates the page design and coding processes so that global elements and design changes can happen in the development environment.

Deliverables: Development site link

In this phase, we'll work on:

  • Setting up staging WordPress site and plugins
  • Developing the homepage first and gathering feedback from you
  • Building remaining pages based on approved direction

In this phase, we'll work on:

  • Link testing and compatibility checks
  • Final revisions and content confirmations
  • Last chance to request edits or add scope (fees may apply)

Deliverables: Link to Bug Tracker (in Google Sheets) to collect bugs, typos, formatting changes, etc.

What’s Needed: Hosting and domain access

What We’ll Do:

  • Migrate site to live server
  • Set up SSL, analytics, redirects, and sitemap for search engines
  • Send credentials and documentation

Your site needs regular care to stay secure and perform well. Our monthly WordPress maintenance plans include:

  • Plugin and software updates
  • Security scanning and backups
  • Uptime performance monitoring
  • Monthly reports
  • Recurring and/or pay-as-you-go labor hours
